How your data is collected, used, and protected on this site.
- Minimal data collection
- We never sell your data
- Aligned with FADP & GDPR
Data Controller
This website (e-margot.ch) is operated by Elliot Margot, an independent AI and Power Platform consultant based in Switzerland. For the purposes of applicable data protection law, Elliot Margot is the controller responsible for the personal data processed through this site.
You can contact the controller at any time through the contact page. Additional legal details are available in the Impressum.
Scope of This Policy
This policy explains what personal data is collected when you visit or interact with this website, why it is processed, who it may be shared with, and the rights you have over it.
Because the site operator is based in Switzerland and the site is accessible from the European Economic Area, this policy is written to align with both the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), whichever applies to you.
Information We Collect
We only collect what is needed to run the site and respond to you. Depending on how you use it, this may include:
- Contact form: your name, email address, your message, and any file you choose to attach.
- Newsletter (Agentic Weekly): your email address when you subscribe.
- Mentorship booking: your name, email address, the topic you describe, the time slot you select, and any optional attachment.
- AI assistant (ElliotBot): the messages and any image you send to the in-page chatbot, plus the title of the page you are viewing for context.
- Bug reports: the page concerned, your description, and your browser's user-agent string.
- Technical and usage data: standard information such as your IP address, browser type, device, and pages visited, processed through server logs and (only with your consent) analytics.
This site does not ask for, and does not knowingly collect, sensitive personal data. Please do not include confidential or sensitive information in the contact form or the AI assistant.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used only for the purpose for which you provided it:
- To respond to you when you use the contact form, request a mentorship call, or report a bug (legal basis: steps taken at your request and our legitimate interest in answering you).
- To send the newsletter you signed up for (legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- To operate the AI assistant and give you relevant answers about the site (legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing the feature).
- To keep the site secure and working, including rate-limiting and diagnosing errors (legal basis: our legitimate interest in security and reliability).
- To understand site usage through aggregated analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies (legal basis: your consent).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Cookies and Analytics
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept, decline, or customize non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored locally in your browser, and analytics and marketing tags stay disabled by default until you opt in (using Google Consent Mode).
- Essential storage: required for the site to function and to remember your cookie choice. Always active.
- Analytics: Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, helps us understand aggregated, anonymized usage. Only active if you accept.
- Marketing: off by default and only active if you explicitly enable it.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clearing the site data in your browser, which will bring the consent banner back.
The AI Assistant (ElliotBot)
The site includes an optional AI chatbot. When you send it a message, your text (and any image you attach) is forwarded to Google's Gemini API to generate a reply. Conversations are not stored in a database on this site; the message history lives in your browser session and is processed by Google to produce the response.
Please do not share passwords, confidential business information, or sensitive personal data with the assistant. Google processes this input under its own terms and privacy policy.
Service Providers and Data Sharing
We do not sell or trade your personal data. We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the site, and they only process data on our behalf for the purposes described above:
- Google Cloud - website hosting and infrastructure.
- Google (Gemini API) - powers the AI assistant.
- Google Analytics & Tag Manager - usage analytics (only with your consent).
- Google / Gmail (SMTP) - delivery of contact-form, mentorship, bug-report, and newsletter emails.
- Cloudinary - hosting and delivery of images and media.
- Microsoft Teams - used for mentorship video calls when you book one.
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the site and its users.
International Data Transfers
Some of the providers above are based in, or process data in, countries outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, as offered by these providers.
Data Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:
- Contact, mentorship, and bug-report messages are retained in the operator's mailbox for as long as needed to handle and follow up on your request, then deleted.
- Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
- AI assistant conversations are not persisted by this site beyond your browser session.
- Analytics data is retained according to the provider's configured retention settings.
- Server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Request deletion of your data;
- Object to or request restriction of certain processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribe from the newsletter);
- Receive your data in a portable format, where applicable.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through the contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority - in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC); in the EEA, your local data protection authority.
Data Security
The site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections, input is validated, file uploads are limited in size and type, and requests to the AI assistant are rate-limited. While no method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Children's Privacy
This website is intended for a professional audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the site or to legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please reach out through the contact page. Legal and contact details are also listed in the Impressum.
